My mother made a comment about me swimming where there could have been snakes, bugs, or weird fish and how I have changed.  Mom you probably won’t like this post much, but I think God gave me this verse and I say it for about everything.
Somewhere in Ecclesiastes it says ” the destiny of every man is death”.

Q: should I drink this water
A: Ecclesiastes
Q: should I jump in this lake
A: Ecclesiastes
Q: do I need my malaria medicine
A: Ecclesiastes

haha those are some goofy ones, but even sleeping at night with the bugs and the lizards could get someone.  I find comfort in not having to wonder whether or not I am going to die.  Turns out all of us are going to.  As I read through Acts, I read about how people try to kill Paul all the time, but God protected him until his plan was complete.  It is actually pretty safe here, but for those of you who know me, I’m usually not one for dirty things or weird animals.  As an answer to prayer, God has broke any little fears I had.  He holds me tightly, and will not allow anything to happen to me that would cut his plans for me short.  He is a good father.

  1. We are so glad to hear that you are growing and that God is opening your heart to new things. There is a passage in Ezekiel 37 where he has a vision about a field full of bones. Jews weren’t supposed to touch dead or unclean things, but God tells Ezekiel to go among the bones. Sometimes God calls us to go to unclean/dirty places, to walk through unpleasant situations, and this is for the benefit of people around you. To bring hope to things that are dead.
    We’ll be praying!

  2. You mom may not like this post you’ve made, but I think it’s hilarious. Wanna hold Bill the Snake when you come home?? πŸ˜‰

  3. haha… This is great! I can just hear your mom when she reads this, “CALEB- You BETTER be taking your malaria medicine!”

This reminds me of something that Cassie Andersen said this summer when they were looking at going to Mexico in the face of danger. She had a peace that whatever danger she faces in life, she won’t die one second before God has planned!
Ah… peace that passes understanding. This is an answer to our prayers for you, Caleb.
(and I’m sure some of your mom’s too πŸ˜‰

  4. He does know the day the time and hour! How is that for exactness. He gives us breath and He takes it away!

  5. Calie…

I am so stinken proud of U – for allowing Christ to simply live HIS life out through U – and that the life U live in the Body is all for HIs glory and honor.

I continue to pray that U have wisdom and discernment – like TAKING UR MALARIA PILLS as prescribed and not leaving it up to “the sovereignty of God” and then drinking the water and not taking those pills … that aint smart on anyone’s part !!

    talk soon

  6. Ok, you knew I would have to comment & are just waiting. So here goes. πŸ™‚

Your basic point is good & I agree (altho’ I’m in no hurry for your final destiny!) He is truly a good Father & we do very much find rest and comfort in His care!

Here’s an added thought, comparing scripture with scripture:

    Matt.4:5-7
Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
” ‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'”

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'”

It does not appear that God is pleased if we blow off His gifts of knowledge and discernment while resting in His divine plan for our ultimate destiny. One could say:

Q: should I drink this water
A: Do not put the Lord your God to the test
Q: should I jump in this lake
A: Do not put the Lord your God to the test
Q: do I need my malaria medicine
A: Do not put the Lord your God to the test

    What do you think?

  7. Hey buddy, these posts and this website is awesome. I didn’t even know about it or what you were really doing until now. (Thanks Heather for the facebook status update) It’s a blessing to hear how God has worked in your life, and I can’t even tell you how much of an encouragement it has been for me to read these posts. I’ll be prayin for you and thinkin of ya. Oh, and just some advice comin from an old friend, maybe try to downplay all the dangerous stuff you do, at least when your mother can see it. Cuz from my experience, a worried mother can be more dangerous than drinking strange water, jumpin into exotic lakes, and not takin your gross malaria medicine combined. Ha ha, love ya bud and God bless!

  8. Mr. Chadwick’s experience has taught him well…and has made this worry-prone mother LOL! Funny!

  9. Hi Again, I think the last post got sent before I was finished…..anyway, we had a great time at church last night hearing from the short term missions people and your mom did a small slide show of you! I’ve been keeping up with your adventures, but I thought I should let you know that! You are and always have been a blast, why would anyone think that you would be any different on the mission field. Have fun with the soccer coaching, and let us know how your team is doing, send pictures! Praying for you, Kathy

  10. Wow Caleb! You stirred up a hornet’s nest! I never really realized that you have more than one mother! Jamie-lou sounds a lot like “the mom” on this one! Gotta love her for that! πŸ™‚
Please take good care of yourself! We all love you and already are trusting our Father to keep you in ways no human ever could.
