People that need Jesus: EVERYWHERE!!!

Haha I’m here!!! I can’t believe it!!! Most the time it doesn’t seem real. It is nice because it isn’t just a mission’s trip, it is life. Most trips I’ve been on every min since the time you arrive is filled with ministry. This is different because we can work on our temporary homes and get to know people in the town. This first week we’ve pretty much been getting settled in, checking things out, and learning about the culture. We have gotten involved a little at the church with the worship team and bible studies and people are starting to get to know us. We are the first group of missionaries to be here for this amount of time so we have to set up some of our own ministries. There are some ideas, but we are kind of pioneering the way. We have also have been playing soccer with the local teenagers in the street almost every night which has been fun, and really useful in getting to know people.

God continues to be amazing! He is so good to us. I get so excited every day when it comes to my quiet time. A theme he has been teaching me is renewing my mind. So apparently since the fall of man, when we are born we began learning things from our flesh and deceptive lies of the evil one. So now that we are under the new authority of Jesus Christ and not the flesh, we have to relearn how to do everything in Christ rather than our flesh. It is not bothersome though to relearn everything. Although it is sad to realize how far off we have become, renewing my mind is the incredible part, and leads to truly living!

Yesterday we worked at the church and cut grass with machetes and some other work. We have met some amazing people already-this is going into week two but since I haven’t posted this yet I am adding some more. This week we have quiet times in the morning and a time of teaching, then working at the local church in the afternoon. We also attend bible studies for the men in the church. Sorry about not blogging very much, but our internet is limited. I think the rest of the week we will be doing a lot of work at the local church. I think that’s all for now. I miss and love you all!!!

  1. It’s WONDERFUL to hear from you!! Thanks so much for both updates! It sounds like God is doing great things both in & through you – for which we are very grateful to Him. We continue to pray for you OFTEN!

    Much, much love!

  2. I love how God has been speaking to your heart. Isn’t that so true … it is as though because of the sacrifice of Christ we get a whole new set of rules. We don’t have to live by the lies and hear them anymore. And we get the amazing love letter to teach us the truth that is at our fingertips 24/7. There is nothing like quiet time with God and the thing that amazes me the most is it seemed as though I never used to have time for it…now I can’t get enough of it. The more you seek Him the more of Him you want. What an amazing God we serve.

Thanks for the update…it is a blast seeing God move in your heart and soul and mind.

Get a goal and keep on serving! Love and miss you…Deb

  8. Caleb! I love you! I am so excited that you are there now. I cannot believe how far we have come since last year. Wow, what a great God we serve. I am so encouraged by your blogs and your heart. God is so good!!! Ha. I could leap for joy, maybe I will. Ah, our first class was Worldviews and I learned so much and most of it was about renewing my mind! I was shown time and time again how I have fallen prey to the secular mindset and then seen how Christ calls us to the renewing of our minds, not just a new heart. I love that God showed you the same thing. How amazing is He? I am praying for you and your team hardcore. Pray for me too! In Christ Alone.

  9. Thank you all so much for you thoughts and prayers! Seriously I feel them down here! I miss you all a ton, but it is great here too. love you guys!
